Member of the Sodalitium ordained for the priesthood in intense celebration in Rome
Rome, 10/03/06, (NE - eclesiales.org).- In an intense Eucharistic celebration in the city of Rome, in the Feast day of the Holy Archangels Michael, Raphael and Gabriel, Fr. Jorge Olaechea, SCV, a member of the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae, was ordained a priest.
The historic church of Santa Maria in Dominica, one of the oldest of the Eternal City, was filled with assistants who participated in the touching ceremony presided over by Cardinal J. Francis Stafford, of the Vatican Curia. Among the concelebrants were Bishop Kay Martin Schmalhausen, SCV, Bishop of Ayaviri, Archbishop Cipriano Calderón Polo, emeritus vice President of the Papal Commission for Latin America, and Rev. Fr. Jaime Baertl Gómez, Assistant General of the Sodalitium, as well as a number of priests.
The newly ordained, was born in Lima in 1976 and lives at present in Rome. During the ceremony he was accompanied by several members of Sodalit Family, including Mr. Luis Fernando Figari, Founder of the Sodalitium. A number of lay faithful and members of religious orders, along with the parents and the two sisters of Fr. Jorge filled the entire church. After the ritual of the priestly ordination the participants received with a big applause the new priest, who has been member of the Sodalitium since 1993.
During his homily, Cardinal Stafford encouraged the new priest to a life of intense prayer and generous self-giving. "During your life, there have been many anointments: the one of Baptism that permitted you to participate actively in the worshiping of the Father within the Body of Christ, the anointment of Confirmation that permitted you to act on behalf of the Church. Today you will receive the anointment of the Holy Orders that will permit you to act in the person of Christ Head of the Church", said the Cardinal to the newly ordained. "That the archangels, Michael, Raphael and Gabriel may find you and accompany you during your entire priestly ministry".
